As summer comes to a close, here is some of the music that I have been listening to on Spotify and YouTube!
Handel’s oratorio Saul has quickly become one of my favorite works by Handel. For those who know me, they will know that I have a deep love for baroque music. I found this by complete accident (if you believe in accidents that is) and have been very delighted by what I’ve heard. I strongly recommend listening to the entire oratorio!
This oratorio is just marvelous and I especially love the recording by the Handel and Haydn Society. There’s so much to love about this recording: First, you can really hear each individual choral part and also each instrumentation. This is beautifully mastered and difficult to come by. Second, I love the interpretation by the soloists!
Elijah is an oratorio that means a lot to me. First, I got to sing in Elijah a few years ago with the Lancaster Chorale in PA. Second, my best friend and grandfather passed away during rehearsals. He would drive me each Sunday for a 3-hour rehearsal and take me out to lunch. Every time I hear this oratorio I am reminded of him. This is my favorite number from the piece.
Fleetwood Mac “Landslide”
Outside the world of classical music, I have really been enjoying some of the older rock classics. I absolutely adore Fleetwood Mac. Their song “Landslide” is going to be on my debut album!
Eva Cassidy “Fields of Gold”
This is another song that will be featured on my debut album! Fields of Gold is one of my favorite songs and no one does it better than Eva Cassidy!
That should do it for now! I hope to be posting updates at least once a week! Check back soon!
